As a result several poems in The Bow in the Cloud address the horrors of West Indian Slavery. Nevertheless, despite the achievement, anti-slavery campaigners continued to agitate over indentured labour practices in the region, as this 2020 blog post by Michael Mahoney from the British National Archives shows.
